Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Duke of Cambridge in Tilford yesterday - great live music, delicious food and excellent ale ensured that everyone had a great time. Our thanks to Mark, Amy and all the staff at the Duke and our band of volunteer helpers including Hazel, Ray, Cherie, Louise and everyone else who made this event possible :-)

An amazing performance from Martin Billet running for Cherry Trees in yesterday's London Marathon - official time 03:39:44, placing him 367th in his age category. He has also raised a fantastic £5,300 for Cherry Trees. Many congratulations and thanks from everyone at CT xxx

Martin Billet is running the London Marathon in aid of Cherry Trees this Sunday and has set himself the target of raising a mammouth £5,000! As Martin says, "Cherry Trees has cared for my lad Nick for over 13 years and although he has moved on now, we will never forget how they were there for us in the most desparate of times. Simply put, respite breaks are the only thing that keeps you going at times. Bruises heal, meals are uninterrupted, lawns are mowed, BBQ's enjoyed and life looks better. The current economic climate had meant government cut backs have squeezed CT's income streams and yet the familes are still out there who need Cherry Trees more than ever, and our Head of Care - Peter Davey - simply never says " we can't help". so please, please support me: http://www.justgiving.com/cherryrunner."

500 days to the Olympics

As part of Guildford's celebrations marking 500 days to the Olympics, Cherry Trees' kids took part in a lantern-making workshop led by local artist Liliana Montoya. There will be a magical lighting of these lanterns (plus lots of other activities and entertainment) on the town bridge at 6.30pm on Tuesday. Hope to see you there!

One of our parent trustees, Martin Billet, is running the London Marathon in April.

His son, Nick, was looked after at Cherry Trees for over 13 years so this year he has decided to run the marathon for Cherry Trees.

Not content with running the 26.2 miles, he has also set himself the target of raising £5,000. Martin says, “Cherry Trees has cared for our son Nick for over 13 years and I am desperately keen to say a massive “thank you” to them. They have always gone the extra mile for our family - so I’ll try 26 miles for them. That’s about 2 miles for every year he was at Cherry Trees”.

Please help - it’s a huge target but together we can do it!

The Cherry Trees children have had a great time this half term with lots of activities and outings, including the opportunity to design their own t shirt. We obvioulsy have some budding fashion designers in our midst :-)

Having had to cancel the kids' Christmas party due to snow, we have now organised an Easter party for Cherry Trees kids and their families on Saturday 16th April. Art attack!

Having been asked to produce a display for our local church, St. Thomas of Canterbury in East Clandon, the idea of a globe began to take shape as we felt it reflected the diverse cultures and backgrounds of the Cherry Trees children and their families, plus the staff too. Lots of glue, water, paper, paint and some very sticky children later, and the globe was ready for display. This project was a popular activity and shows the Cherry Trees children off in full technicolour glory! We believe the Cherry Trees children have succeeded in this project and have extended the hand of friendship in this truly multi-racial world.
